Google is taking a big leap forward with AI Mode in Search, adding agentic booking capabilities and rolling out new personalization features. The upgrade starts with restaurant reservations for U.S. Google AI Ultra subscribers in Labs and expands AI Mode’s availability to more than 180 countries and territories in English.
Booking Reservations

With the new update, AI Mode can handle complex requests—like “find a table for four at 7 PM”—by checking real-time availability across reservation platforms and linking users directly to the booking page.
This innovation keeps more discovery and conversion activity inside Google’s ecosystem, potentially changing how businesses capture traffic.
Robby Stein, from Google’s Keyword blog, explained:
“We’re starting to roll out today with finding restaurant reservations, and expanding soon to local service appointments and event tickets.”
Planning & Sharing Features

Google is also introducing planning features that allow U.S. users to share AI Mode responses with friends or colleagues. These shared results can be revisited, with others able to ask follow-up questions or continue research. Importantly, the link can be revoked anytime, giving users control.
For those who opt in to the Labs experiment, personalized dining suggestions informed by prior searches and Maps interactions are available. All preferences can be managed via Google Account settings for transparency and privacy.
How It Works
Google highlights that the system runs on Project Mariner, leveraging live web browsing, partner integrations, Knowledge Graph data, and Maps signals.
Booking and ticketing partners include OpenTable, Resy, Tock, Ticketmaster, StubHub, SeatGeek, and Booksy. While dining is the first focus, local services and events will soon follow.
Availability
At present, agentic reservations are only for Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. Labs experiment.
- Personalization is U.S.-only, opt-in, and limited to dining.
- Link sharing is also U.S.-based.
- Global expansion brings AI Mode in English to 180+ countries, with support for more languages on the way.
Looking Ahead
Google’s AI Mode is evolving from answer generation to task completion. Businesses in hospitality, local services, and events must now:
- Ensure structured data and Business Profiles are accurate.
- Verify reservation inventory, operating hours, and policies.
- Track booking referrals in analytics as AI Mode integrates more services.
With this expansion, Google is positioning AI Mode as a true task assistant, shaping the future of search, discovery, and commerce online.
